Ofsted praises teen mags for teaching sex |
|
| |
Sexually explicit teenage magazines have been praised by school inspectors as a very positive source of advice for young people. The publications aimed at the teen market have been condemned as irresponsible by primary teachers and are banned in some schools.
The inspectors admit that the magazines can give "a perception that all young people are sexually active when it is not the case" but defend their use as a source of information and reassurance. The most effective secondary schools have centres offering contraceptive advice and nurses able to dispense the morning-after pill, they say.
Schools have been urged by the Government to consider employing nurses to dispense advice and contraception as part of the campaign to halve the 1998 teenage pregnancy rate by 2010. Official statistics published last February showed that pregnancies among under-16s in England rose to 7,464 in 2005, an increase of 283 on 2004 with some being as young as 13. Nearly six in 10 ended in abortion.
The LifeLeague says: We suggest that you contact Ofsted and ask them why, despite admitting that these magazines give misleading perceptions, they are still bestowing approval on them. Ask them how this irresponsible advice squares with the commitments given on their own website to [1] “ raise aspirations and contribute to the long term achievement of ambitious standards and better life chances for service users” and [2] “report fairly and truthfully”.

Dubious Research at its’ Best: Advance Your Education – Kill Your Baby (pro-abortionism’s next new argument ?)
|
|
| |
New research published by the Christchurch Health and Development Study identifies that girls who have an abortion go on to achieve higher subsequent education than girls who keep their baby. While some have hailed this as a reason to support abortion, the study actually found that, after controlling for factors such as family and social characteristics was taken into consideration, having an abortion did not improve girls' outcomes in the areas of income, avoiding welfare dependency or partnership relationships.
The LifeLeague says: So, are we now to expect the pro-abortion lobby to start proclaiming ‘advance your education, kill your baby’ ? Perhaps they should realise that there are other (i.e. more ethical and less drastic) ways whereby a young woman can improve her educational prospects.
The LifeLeague says: These latest figures serve only to remind us of the immense importance of our cause and our dedication to it. Lets keep busy and keep campaigning.

A Miracle! A Pro – Sex Educator Talks Sense! School Teens Should be Told about the ‘Grisly Mechanics’ of Abortion
|
|
| |
The second stop of our tour would be the abortion clinic. Abortion, often cited by authorities like the Daily Mail as the decadent “easy option”, is far, far, from it, as teenagers would know if they were ever told — as they should be — its grisly mechanics.
The LifeLeague says: For the first time ever, LifeLeague finds points of agreement with a supporter of sex education. Whilst we don’t agree with sex education, this particular suggestion of Helen Rumbelow’s definitely carries some weight and, if it were heeded by government policy makers, ‘abortion education’ in schools would doubtless lead to a decrease in abortions, crisis pregnancies and sex outside of marriage.

I'd always been pro-abortion.....until the day I became a mother |
|
| One liberal broadcaster describes her startling change of heart over one of the most emotionally charged issues of our times, abortion.
When I discovered I was pregnant in February 2005, after several weeks of heavy drinking and flying to and from the U.S. for work, I was 38 and in a settled relationship. And, despite my nonideal lifestyle, our baby was planned.
The LifeLeague says: Miranda Sawyer’s TV documentary (aired this week and referred to in last week’s LifeLeague e-newsletter) has caused waves. We welcome this as yet another ‘one small step’ in our war to have abortion gone and banished forever.
