Pro-Abortionists Make their Next Move in UK Parliament

The Draft Human Tissue and Embryology Bill has now been published. Within it the Government propose to remove the requirement for doctors to have regard for the need of any child they assist in bringing into the world through assisted reproductive technology for a father (clause 21). This proposal flies in the face of the wealth of research that demonstrates that a father is central to a child’s welfare. This role is different but complementary to that of the mother. Children deprived of a father often experience psychological, social and community disadvantages. This proposal is all about the alleged “rights” and demands of adults and nothing about the needs of children.

It also proposes that: scientists be allowed to create any variety of animal-human hybrid embryos for research purposes (clause 17); the Reproductive Cloning Act 2001, which banned reproductive cloning, be repealed and replaced by something far less clear cut (clause 16, para 15.5); and non-profit making bodies should be allowed to advertise in order facilitate surrogacy arrangements (clause 66).

The LifeLeague says: We urge all of our supporters, especially those from the UK, to make written submissions (opposing the above cited elements of the bill) by the 15.06.07:

Increased Threat from IVF in Britain

The number of women over 40 in Britain undergoing IVF treatment has increased more than tenfold over the last 15 years, according to statistics published by the Human Fertility and Embryology Authority (HFEA).

The LifeLeague says: our hearts go out to these women, many of whom are desperate for a child. We believe that they are being cynically used as 'cannon-fodder' by the pro-death lobby. Help us as we spread the truth about IVF to these women and everyone else in society. Please click here for LifeLeague's comprehensive article dealing with IVF.

Pro Death Lobby Defeated in the US House of Representatives

A bill designed to allow cloning of human embryos for destructive research while forbidding the birth of babies created in this way has been defeated in the US House of Representatives. The White House confirmed that President Bush would have vetoed the bill because it would have allowed the creation of embryos destined for destruction in stem-cell research.

The National Right to Life Committee explained that the deceptively named "Human Cloning Prohibition Act" didn't ban cloning at all, only the transference of cloned embryos into a uterus or its functional equivalent.

The LifeLeague says: We welcome this latest victory for our American friends and look forward to the time when we can celebrate similar victories in Britain.

Ethical Cell Research Vindicated Again - Stem Cell Research Shown to be Unnecessary

Separate studies in Japan and America were published in the journal Nature on Wednesday showing that embryonic stem cells can be made by reprogramming some of the genes in adult skin cells, without having to create an embryo. The results of work on mice are preliminary, and proof of principle, according to Rudolf Jaenisch, a professor of biology at MIT and member of the Whitehead Institute, leader of one of the groups.

The LifeLeague says: We welcome this latest moral victory for the pro-life cause, showing once again that science is one of our greatest weapons in the war against the death lobby.

Moronic Joan Burnie attacks Christians (again…)

In the June 8th edition of the Daily Record self styled ‘agony aunt’; Joan Burnie, saw fit to get on top of her little soap box and lecture the rest of us on how pathetic we are when we expect some form of Godly influence in our government. The first paragraph of her column reads ‘If any MP thinks his or her religious convictions are more important than their duty to represent their constituents of all faiths or none, they should quit politics for the pulpit’.

In thirty-odd words Ms Burnie has written off hundreds of years of Parliamentary history and the hopes of countless thousands of Britons. Does the oath that MP’s take on the start of each new Parliament not re-affirm their allegiance to and beseech help from GOD? Indeed it does my friends, so why the attack on our heritage? When you read the rest of the article it becomes increasingly obvious that what Joan Burnie is really attacking is the pro-life remarks of Cardinal Keith O’Brien, she particularly ‘objects’ to the emotive way the Cardinal couched his remarks. I mean, how dare anyone show emotion over the murder of our young ones!!.................

Please click here for the rest of our article.

The LifeLeague says: Joan Burnie is very fond of imposing her views on you, why not write to her and express your views in a polite and constructive manner at: Joan Burnie, 4 West Catherine Place, Edinburgh, EH12 5H2
