IMPORTANT PRO-LIFE MOTION TO COME BEFORE THE NORTHERN IRELAND ASSEMBLY
In the Northern Ireland Assembly, DUP MPs Jeffrey Donaldson and Iris Robinson have filed a motion in opposition to draft guidelines on abortion which were to be issued by the Department of Health in January.
LifeLeague and our supporters, have already campaigned tirelessly on this issue, exposing the blatently pro-abortion agenda behind the new recommendations. Furthermore, we have lobbied and brought it to the attention of every MLA in the Northern Ireland Assembly. Click here, here and here for more information. We will be watching with interest the voting decisions of the SDLP and SF MLAs concerning this motion.
The pro-life motion urges Michael Mc Gimpsey MLA, the NI Health Minister, to abandon "any attempt to make abortion more widely available in Northern Ireland." It looks like this motion, like previous pro-life motions in the Assembly, will be won. It is important however that we keep up the pressure in order to maximise the pro-life majority in the Assembly - thus sending out a strong message to the death lobby. We urge you to do three things:
[1] Contact Jeffrey Donaldson MP (by clicking here) and Iris Robinson MP (by clicking here), thank them for having the courage to stand up for the pro-life position.
[2] If you live in Northern Ireland, please contact your local MLAs by clicking here, urge them to support the pro-life motion and respect the position of the overwhelming majority of people in Northern Ireland.
[3] Contact Michael Mc Gimpsey MLA, the NI Health Minister, urge him to honour the pro-life position of the overwhelming majority of people in Northern Ireland by blocking all further attempts to liberalise the province's abortion laws. Click here to do so.
