SPUC welcomes church statement on food and drink for mentally incapacitated
SPUC has welcomed a recent, very encouraging Vatican statement. It is significant for the whole world, including England and Wales, where new legislation (the Mental Capacity Act) is coming into force running contrary to the statement's principles.

Pro-Abortionists Step Up Pressure in Ireland With Help of Questionable Poll |
|
| |
A new poll has revealed that an increasing number of women want the government to bring in legislation to allow abortions to take place in Ireland. 54% of females are in favour of the government to bringing in legislation to permit abortions in this country.
The LifeLeague says: Whilst we would question the accuracy of this poll, the fact that it is being given publicity suggests that pro-abortion pressure is now beginning to build on Ireland. Let this stir us to greater vigilence and activism as we strive to keep all of Ireland abortion free. For this reason, LifeLeague has recently stepped up its campaign to maximise the pro-life majority in the Assembly, click here and here for further details.
If you haven't yet done so, we urge you to take part in our campaign - click here for further details.

Abortion row teenager pregnant again |
|
| |
A schoolgirl who nearly provoked a constitutional crisis in the Irish Republic four months ago by demanding the right to travel to England for an abortion is pregnant again.
Miss D, as the courts called the Dublin teenager during a landmark legal battle in May, said it was a shock that she had become pregnant again so quickly. “I cried when I found out. It was a surprise. I know I said I wanted to get pregnant but I didn’t want it that soon. But I don’t regret it, I can’t wait,” she told the Irish Independent newspaper.
The LifeLeague says: A case like can provoke many feelings of outrage and downright disbelief, one thing it does show however is that abortion is never a 'solution' to any problem. We hope and pray that Miss D and her unborn baby have a safe pregnancy.

Encouraging Developments
Catholic schools ban Amnesty for abortions policy: Controversy surrounding Amnesty International's new policy of supporting abortion in certain circumstances has brought it into conflict with Catholic schools in Northern Ireland. Significant High Court Victory Against SORs: Belfast High Court has quashed SORs laws that threatened the religious freedom of Christians. The 'harassment' provisions of the Northern Ireland SORs are gone, meaning that Christians cannot be sued for expressing opposition to homosexual practice. The court also narrowed SORs so that they cannot apply to the school curriculum or affect every activity of a faith-based group in receipt of public funding. The LifeLeague says: We would like to thank everyone who supported our campaign against SORs, clearly this is a significant and very welcome victory. Keep up the campaigning, keep up the hard work.
