LifeLeague to Target 'Shanghai Herbal and Acupuncture Centre', Kingsland Road, London

40 years after 1967, illegal abortions still blight the UK. A BBC undercover investigation has discovered that pills for getting rid of unwanted pregnancies are readily available on the black market. A Radio 5 Live Report followed up on internet chat room messages left by women asking for abortion advice. There was online discussion about special Chinese herbs being sold in East London.

The LifeLeague says: This serves, once again, to give the lie to the 1967 claim that legalising abortion would wipe out the hideous practice of 'back-street-abortion'. A BBC reporter, posing as an illegal immigrant, visited several Chinese herbal shops, saying she was 6 weeks pregnant. The Shanghai Herbal and Acupuncture Centre on Kingsland Road (London) offered to help her. The staff - Drs Shen and Wang - knew they were doing wrong: "You come in this shop, you are lucky. Do you understand. My boss does't like me to do this treatment, my boss thinks it is a risk. So my boss doesn't know. You understand?"

We will, within the law, be targeting Shanghai Herbal and Acupuncture Centre, along with Drs Shen and Wang over the next couple of weeks. Watch this space.

Head of Amnesty International UK Supports New Stance on Abortion

The head of Amnesty International in the UK has supported the organisation's new policy on abortion. Ms Kate Allen dismissed the opposition of the Catholic Church as nonsensical.

The LifeLeague says: You may wish to click here and contact Ms Allen, please mark your message for her attention and remind her that nothing can be as nonsensical as killing babies.

Catholics for Choice: More Dubious Research from the Pro-Abortion Camp

The British media is reporting that a recent poll has shown a great majority of British Catholics are in favour of abortion remaining legal. The poll also showed a majority of respondents thought Catholic bishops spent "too much of their attention on abortion" to the neglect of "other issues" that require their attention.

The poll of 1,983 adults in the UK found that 43 per cent of Catholics thought abortion should remain legal with 27 per cent disagreeing.

The LifeLeague says: Clearly the source of this 'date' has to be held up to scrutiny. It is incredibly difficult to believe that the Catholics canvased here were practicing Catholics or nominal Catholics. The only Catholics who would give feedback such as the above would be those who no longer follow Catholicism. Could it be said that pro-abortionists are now having to make up their own evidence?

Romanian film on illegal abortion takes Stockholm's top prize

The 18th Stockholm International Film Festival has handed its top Bronze Horse award for best film to "4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days". Set in director Christian Mungiu's native Romania, the film, which won the Palme d'Or in Cannes earlier this year, is a devastating tale of abortion and daily despair during the country's communist era.

The LifeLeague says: We welcome the the negative publicity that this film will give to abortion throughout Eastern Europe, an area of the world where pro-life groups struggle with few resources.
