Oxfordshire Councillor Says Pro-Life NHS Doctors Should be Required to Provide Abortions

Hundreds of women have to travel miles out of Oxfordshire for an abortion because county NHS doctors will not carry out the procedure. About four fifths of the 2,000 NHS terminations performed on Oxfordshire women every year are carried out in Reading or London by family planning organisation Marie Stopes, it has emerged. Councillor Dave King said: "From what I can gather, the abortions are not being done in Oxfordshire because of the ethical beliefs of staff. I am a bit annoyed. It is the principle of it - people dictating what they are going to do work-wise. I feel if they work for the NHS they should be prepared to carry out these procedures."

The LifeLeague says: We recommend you click here to contact Councillor King, remind him that if other ethical beliefs are accomodated within the NHS, then so too should those with a pro-life ethic. Point out to him that abortion is murder and nothing can justify killing someone's baby. You may wish to tell him this by phoning 01993 212380 or writing to him at 2 Barley Crescent, Carterton, Oxon, OX18 1FH. Pro-Life Miracle - The Baby Who Survived Father's Abortion Attempt

Safe in his mother's arms, Matan Abraham has everything to look forward to. But a year ago, his very existence hung in the balance after his father tried to kill him in the womb. Gil Magira, who had a phobia of fatherhood, decided to take matters into his own hands when his wife refused to terminate their child.

The LifeLeague says: Little Matan is a miracle and an inspiration to us all. We thank God that he has been brought into the world and wish him and his mum every blessing. This is undoubtedly a story of how God can work in almost impossible situations to save babies lives. Lets pray to Him every day and ask him to save more babies destined to slaughter in this manner. Let the story of little Matan inspire and encourage you as you work to defend the unborn child.

George Monbiot, Writing in The Guardian, Blames Cardinal for High Abortion Rate

I agree with His Eminence about the distress caused by the deaths of unborn children - but his policies will only increase the rate.

The LifeLeague says: We urge you to click here and remind George Monbiot that, if anything, the Cardinal's stand against abortion is saving children from abortion. The way to bring down the abortion rate is to try stopping abortion - not legalising, and therefore encouraging and legitimising it.

Labour's Teen Pregnancy Strategy Shown to be a Shambles.........Again

Labour's chance of hitting its targets for cutting teenage pregnancy took another blow yesterday. The latest figures showed that it is likely to get less than halfway towards its pledge of cutting teen pregnancy by 50 per cent by 2010. The latest count from the Office for National Statistics showed there were 39,000 pregnancies among under-18s in 2006 compared with 39,800 in 2005. Labour's Teenage Pregnancy Strategy, launched by Tony Blair at a cost to the taxpayer of £138million, has reduced the rate by just five per cent since 2001.

The LifeLeague says: please click here to contact your MP. Ask them how many more reports and pieces of evidence they need to see before the government abandons its present disastrous policy.
