Marie Stopes Offer New 'Abortion Counselling Service'
A telephone counselling service for women thinking of ending their pregnancy has been launched by Marie Stopes International. They have set up this hotline as an alternative to face-to-face meetings. More than 650 women took advantage of the hotline during a six month pilot trial.
The LifeLeague says: It would be interesting to know how many of these 650 women, if any, decided to keep their babies after receiving Marie Stopes 'counselling'. Marie Stopes being in charge of abortion counselling is like putting a shark in charge of a swimming pool. We recommend that you click here and here or phone their hotline on 0845 300 8090; tell Marie Stopes International that women facing crisis pregnancies need help, not 'someone to kill their baby for them'.

MPs to be Given Free Vote on Embryology Bill |
|
| |
Labour's chief whip Geoff Hoon has confirmed that MPs will be given a free vote on sections of the human fertilisation and embryology bill. Catholic Labour MPs, including at least three Cabinet members, had raised concerns with elements of the bill.
The LifeLeague says: In view of this decision to allow a free vote on the Embryology Bill, we will be closely monitoring the voting decisions of all MPs, especially Catholic and Evangelical ones. If they do not (a) turn up for the votes, and, (b) use their votes in line with their faith credentials, we will expose them. Click here to contact any Evangelical and Catholic MPs you know, urge them to make their presence felt as this iniquitous bill passes through the Commons.

A Record 3,000 Late Abortions in Britain |
|
| |
The number of late abortions in Britain has reached a record level. Almost 3,000 were carried out on women who were at least 20 weeks pregnant, according to the latest annual figures in England and Wales, representing a 44 per cent increase in less than a decade.
The LifeLeague says: This lays to rest pro-abortionism's 'urban myth' that - by making early abortions easier and more accessible, we reduce the number of late abortions. This has been shown to be an utter falacy. Making early abortion easier and more accessible merely serves to push up the overall number of abortions, it doesn't accomplish anything else.

Sex Education and Contraception Do Not Reduce Abortion Rates |
|
| |
Writing the The Guardian, Michaela Aston concludes there is clear evidence showing that legal restrictions help cut termination numbers. Pro-lifers have been saying this for many years.
The LifeLeague says: Yet again, we see more evidence that the government's present teen pregnancy 'strategy' is in shambles. We recommend you click here to contact your MP, urge them - in view of the steadily building evidence against sex education - to pressurise government for a policy u-turn.
