Professor Stuart Campbell on the 'Two-Doctor Rule'
The two-doctor rule, formally sanctioning the procedure on medical grounds, was introduced to avoid frivolous decisions being made about the need for abortion - but today, when 99 per cent of abortions are carried out for social reasons and only one per cent because of foetal abnormalities, it has become something of a farce.
The LifeLeague says: We recommend that you click here to contact Professor Campbell (mark your email for his attention). Tell him that, whilst we agree with his assertion that, in practice, the 'two-doctor rule' is a farce, we cannot endorse his proposed solution of just abolishing it - such a move would make abortion even more dangerous.

Abortion Kills Your Sex Life Says UK Doctor in Times Column |
|
| |
In the May 2 instalment of his regular health feature in The Times, Dr. Thomas Stuttaford responded to a reader who complained of a loss of interest in sex following an abortion. "Though my boyfriend and I agreed it was the right thing to do, I feel guilty and I've gone off sex," wrote the questioner. Dr. Stuttaford responded by saying that loss of libido after an abortion is "so common that it can almost be said to be expected".
The LifeLeague says: We welcome this latest piece of evidence, building an ever more negative picture of the effects of abortion.

LifeLeague's Campaign Against Sex Selective Abortion Continues to Make Progress
|
|
| |
India's prime minister today called the widespread practice of aborting female foetuses a "national shame". Manmohan Singh vowed his country could no longer ignore the problem if it wanted to be a modern nation. Experts believe up to 500,000 female fetuses are being aborted every year due to rampant discrimination against women and deep rooted cultural preference in India for male children.
The LifeLeague says: Ever since LifeLeague broke the silence on this issue, we welcome the fact that others have spoken out also.
