WHEELCHAIR
BOUND PRO-LIFE GRANDMOTHER DRAGGED
BEFORE THE HIGH COURT
Veronica Connolly is a wheelchair bound pro-life Catholic
grandmother. She was prosecuted last
year for the 'offence' of sending pictures of aborted babies to pharmacies in
protest against the morning-after pill.
A local court found her guilty, therefore she has appealed the decision,
meaning that she will appear in the high court on 23.01.07.
She has courageously stated that, on grounds of
conscience and duty to God, regardless of what happens, she will not be backing
down or paying any fines. Furthermore, she
is prepared to go to jail if necessary.
LifeLeague are proud to stand by this woman and we will
be mounting a silent, dignified protest outside the High Court on 23.01.07. This case goes beyond the debate of
pro-abortion versus anti-abortion; rather it concerns tolerance, freedom of
speech and freedom of expression. This
pro-life grandmother is no doubt viewed as an easy target in such misuses of
the law. This begs the question, who
will have their civil liberties threatened next? ENDS
