Amnesty: The Roman Catholics Are

Taking a Stand – What of the Evangelicals?

LifeLeague wholeheartedly applaud recent decisions by Roman Catholic leaders to make public their opposition to Amnesty International’s decision to favour abortion.  The Bishop of East Anglia and Archbishop of St.Andrews & Edinburgh have taken the very courageous step of resigning their Amnesty membership.

We concur with the sentiments of senior Vatican official Cardinal Martino when he said that Amnesty’s recent move constituted ‘a betrayal of its historic mission’.

This veritable crescendo of public opposition from the Vatican camp stands in strange contrast to the comparative silence of evangelicals.

Evangelicals have traditionally held a very high view of ‘life’ and the importance of protecting innocent life.  In view of that, it is now time for them, like their Roman Catholic counterparts, to demonstrate some courage and speak up, openly confronting Amnesty’s decision.

LifeLeague, in an effort to help evangelicals break their silence, will be confronting evangelical leaders in the months to come with the necessity of denouncing Amnesty International.>>>>ENDS
